Workshop 360° Value Thinking: innovating for your customer, impacting business

You want to make an impact, but you notice that your innovations don't always have the effect you had hoped for. For example, good ideas often get stuck due to a lack of budget, ownership, or governance within the organization. Does this sound familiar?

MakerLab's inspiring workshop 360° Value Thinking: innovating for your customer, impacting business teaches you to look at the added value of your innovations with a different perspective. We challenge you to increase your innovation power with us.

Sometimes, as a company, think tank, or innovation lab, you may be making good progress, but you reach a point where you want to be challenged or inspired. It's time to use our value thermometer to discover whether you are truly achieving the impact you aim for with your innovations.

In this workshop, we will assess where you and your team currently stand. Together, we will explore whether you all share a common understanding when discussing 'added value' and whether you approach a problem with the same perspective. Especially when there are various departments and stakeholders involved in brainstorming and decision-making for innovation projects, it can be quite challenging to bring about real change.

In this three-part workshop, we will guide you to look at an existing case within your organization from a different perspective each time, exploring how you can create value. We will examine it from three perspectives:

  • How can you deliver value to your target audience?
  • How can you deliver value from operations?
  • How can you deliver value from the innovation context of your organization?

At MakerLab, we aren't big fans of too much theory; we primarily want you to get hands-on. That's why we begin small, focusing on the case and the needs of the target audience. Together, we explore the values that your solution(s) provide to this audience. In the second phase, we broaden our perspective slightly and examine the impact on business operations – identifying stakeholders and the values you provide to them.

The last step we take is an Innovation Quickscan of your organization. Based on the input you provide us in advance, we create an assessment. Questions such as: is there an innovation vision, and if so, is that vision also known to everyone? How is governance organized: who decides what? The score of your organization can be surprising and enlightening when determining pain points and key points in future innovation projects.

After this workshop, you will leave with inspiration regarding various types of values you hadn't previously considered, ways to become more specific about the values that an innovation project can provide (to the target audience or the business operations), and the ability to speak the same 'language' when discussing this with each other.
